COSTUME DESIGN WORKSHOPs
Costume Design 2-Day Workshop
Dates: June 22 & 23
Skill Level(s): Ages 13 - 17
Time: 10am – 1pm both Saturday & Sunday

This class is for artists who would like to explore the process of a costume designer! Within this class, students will read and interpret a short story and then create a characters costume to help tell those characters personal story. Students have ample studio time, and engage in critiques, as well as in-class presentations and group discussions.

Students will work on the following:
Breakdown the characters traits, culture, lifestyle, history, etc.
Basic figure drawing techniques
Explore backgrounds, body position of the character, or other various design work to complement their rendering
Learn how to employ the same elements of design found in art (line, color, texture, shape).
Explore various types of clothing materials as inspiration for their rendering
Students will be using mediums such as (but not limited to) gouache, watercolor, color pencil, and more.
